About That Chocolate Bar
This short play produced as part of a processional festival of plays addressing climate change. It was one of two plays presented on film rather than with live performers. The windows seen in the video were backed with a screen and became the projection surface.
To mirror the “spirit of the Amazon” who appears as a character, we played with the background becoming more tropical as the spirit weaves their story. I was drawn to the artwork of indigenous painter .
We kept the mid-range frame to keep the text “play-like,” opting to zoom only at the end as the characters take their final stand.
The Joy of the Project
This was my second project editing in Adobe Premiere, and the first keying from film shot in front of a green screen.
I loved thinking about ways to connect the site of the performance to where it appears the film takes place. The grey bench sat in the same place it does in the film, though as they see it it has been painted to match the style of the “Amazon” seen in the film.
